TEDx Talk
An Inheritance Worth Sharing
In 2019, I was invited to give a TEDx Talk with TEDxTinHauWomen. At first, I considered saying no—I was deep into writing my first novel and worried about the time it would take. But my family sat me down and said, “You don’t pass up an opportunity like this!” So, I said yes.
It turned out to be one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I became part of an inspiring community of women who challenged me with the right questions: What idea do I most want to share? What story can only I tell? That talk took 26 drafts to get right—each version sharper, more precise, true. Then came the real test: learning it all by heart—18 minutes, without a single “um.”
And here’s the magic that followed: When an editor at HarperCollins took my manuscript to acquisitions, she had just 20 minutes to pitch it. So what did she do? She stood up and said, “Let me play you a TEDx Talk.”
Suddenly, it wasn’t her pitching my book—it was me, speaking directly from the heart about the story I’d poured my soul into. And you know what? I got the deal!
Sometimes, the detours aren’t distractions—they’re the very path that leads you home.

Have you ever dreamed of giving a TED Talk but felt unsure where to begin? As a TEDx speaker and experienced educator, I specialise in helping aspiring speakers transform powerful ideas into compelling, memorable presentations. Whether you're refining your core message, crafting a captivating narrative, or building the confidence to step on stage, I’ll walk you through every step—from distilling your idea to delivering it with clarity, authenticity, and emotional resonance. Together, we’ll shape your talk to not only inform but inspire, ensuring your voice stands out with the presence and polish of a truly TED-worthy performance.
I also love writing heartwarming stories for the South China Morning Post, where I shine a light on diversity, inclusion, and the power of human connection. I’ve had the honour of interviewing inspiring voices like Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, whose Feel Better, Live More podcast and books have transformed countless health journeys; Sheena Melwani, whose joyful music and playful banter with her husband brought laughter and comfort during the darkest days of the pandemic; and even the cast of Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking which was an absolute blast!
I also spoke with Gretchen Rubin, queen of happiness and habits. But the piece that touched me most deeply was about a former Island School friend who discovered she had a brain tumour. I wrote about her courage, her family’s unwavering love, and how they carried her through radiation and treatment with grace and hope.

When the article was published, another editor reached out—moved to tears—and shared details of a promising new brain tumour treatment. I was able to pass that information on to my friend. Who knew that writing stories could do more than inspire? Sometimes, they can even help save a life.

The South China Morning Post has long shone a spotlight on human interest stories with heart—real narratives that inspire, challenge, and connect us. Is there a story you’ve been longing to share? Perhaps a personal health journey that transformed your life, a bold lifestyle change that brought unexpected meaning, or an experience that reveals a deeper truth about resilience, identity, or community? As a writer passionate about amplifying authentic voices, I’m always looking for powerful, personal stories worth telling. If you have a story that needs to be heard, reach out—I’d love to help bring it to life.
Moderating Author Talks
Some of the most meaningful conversations begin not on stage, but in quiet moments afterwards—over steaming tea, in buzzing festival green rooms, or late-night messages after a shared event. Moderating author talks has gifted me more than unforgettable experiences; it’s led to lifelong friendships with writers who don’t just tell stories—they live them with courage, curiosity, and heart.
One of my greatest joys was hosting bestselling author Alka Joshi at the 2025 Hong Kong International Literary Festival, and then again later that year for the Hong Kong Women in Publishing Society. What began as a professional conversation deepened into a bond rooted in shared values, cultural connection, and a love for stories that matter.
These relationships remind me that the writing world isn’t just about books and events—it’s a community. A global circle of kindred spirits who uplift one another, celebrate each other’s wins, and stand together through the quiet, uncertain moments. To walk alongside such talented, generous souls—people who’ve become mentors, collaborators, and true friends—is one of the deepest rewards of this journey.
In the end, it’s not just about the stories we write.
It’s about the lives we touch—and the friendships we carry forward, one page at a time.

Need a skilled moderator to bring depth, energy, and flow to your panel discussion? Whether it’s a conversation between bestselling authors, a thought-provoking dialogue in health, equity, diversity, or inclusion, I help turn discussions into dynamic, meaningful exchanges. With experience guiding conversations on stage and on camera, I specialise in drawing out authentic insights, weaving in moments of humour, and fostering audience engagement—so your event informs, resonates, and inspires. If you're looking for someone who can listen deeply, ask the right questions, and keep the conversation moving with purpose and presence, let’s connect.
Stories That Bring Us Together
As an author, I have the joy of connecting with award-winning writers and illustrators from around the world—honestly, could there be a better job? I’m deeply grateful to the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Hong Kong International Literary Festival for bringing so many beloved authors to Hong Kong. These vibrant communities don’t just celebrate stories—they spark inspiration, foster lifelong friendships, and create a global family of storytellers who uplift, challenge, and cherish one another.
